What is the pinning feature?

Shopstory gives you the option to "pin" or lock a description or a title of your advertisement so that it will appear above other possible combinations that Google may include. As many people are already aware, adding additional descriptions and headlines increases the likelihood that the system will show ads that are relevant to the searches of your potential customers, which could increase ad performance.

When to use it?

This can be useful in certain situations, such as:

  1. Branding: If you have a specific brand message, information about shipping costs or tagline that you want to include in all of your ads, you can pin that headline or description to ensure it always appears.

  2. Testing: If you want to test the effectiveness of a particular headline or description against other variations, you can pin that headline or description and see how it performs over time.

How to use it?

  1. Log in to your Shopstory account and navigate to "my shop" and then select the shop element for which you want to edit the ad.

  2. Select the "ad copy" tab and then pin a headline or description, click on the pin icon next to the text you want to pin.

  3. Once you click on the pin icon, a small pop-up will appear where you can choose to pin the text to "1," "2," or "3."

  4. Repeat the process for any other headlines or descriptions you want to pin.

  5. Click the "Save" button to save your changes.

Important information-

  • Note that you can only pin up to three headlines and two descriptions for each responsive search ad. Also, keep in mind that pinning headlines or descriptions may limit the effectiveness of machine learning algorithms in testing different ad variations, so use this feature judiciously.

  • If you have 3 headlines pinned to 3 different positions and the rest are not, then only the 3 will be played out as the position is occupied.

  • You can always pin several headlines on one position. Then these headlines will be tested only on this position.

An Example

Item 1: Will only be played at position 1. Because nothing else is pinned, this heading is always played at position 1.

Point 2: Here these two headlines are tested on position 2 and will be played in variations.

Point 3: The remaining headlines are not pinned. As only position 3 is free so these headlines will be used played in variations.

Point 4: Description 1 & 2 will played in variations at the 1st position.

Point 5: Description 3 is the only one on the position 2 and is therefore permanently displayed there.

Point 6: Would not be displayed, because Pin1 & Pin2 are occupied. If you also want to play this description, you have to pin it in 1 or 2 because when all 2 descriptions have pinned elements, the random descriptions will not be taken into consideration for the final ad copy anymore.
