The basics

Shop elements are individual products or groups of products in your online shop that Shopstory will track and make SEA and SEO recommendations for.

Four types:

1.Product

2.Brand

3.Category

4.Brand & Category

You can see all of your shop elements by going to My Shop.

Product shop elements

These represent each of the individual products in your online shop.

Every product in your shop will have an individual shop element in Shopstory.

Brand shop elements

These represent a group of products of a specific brand that you have in your online shop.

Products from different brands are grouped into brand shop elements in Shopstory.

E.g. You sell Nike shoes, t-shirts and jackets.  All of these products are grouped into a single brand shop element representing all your Nike products.

Category shop elements

Each of these represent a group of products of a specific category that you have in your online shop.

Products in different categories are grouped into category shop elements.

E.g. You have five product categories: pants, shirts, t-shirts and jackets. A shop element will exist for pants, another shop element for shirts, another for t-shirts, etc.

(Sub-)Category shop elements

If your online shop consists of categories that split into subcategories (and maybe even further subcategories), then there will also exist category shop elements for each sub-category.

E.g. You sell clothing and have a category for (1) Men and a category for (2) Women, with subcategories for each of the clothing types, then you your shop elements will be categorized and subcategorized accordingly.

It is also possible for subcategories to be further subcategorized. For example, in this case there would be shop elements for each of the following:

  • Men (single category)

  • Women (single category)

  • Men → pants (category in category)

  • Women → pants (category in category)

  • Men → pants → jeans (category in category in category)

  • Women → pants → jeans (category in category in category)

  • etc.

Category x brand shop elements

Each of these represent a group of products of a specific brand within a specific category in your online shop.

Brands within each category are grouped into a shop element in Shopstory.

E.g. A category in your shop is shoes and you have Nike and Adidas shoes. A shop element will exist for “Nike shoes” and another for “Adidas shoes”.

Similarly, if you sell Adidas shoes and t-shirts, there will be a brand & category shop element for “Adidas shoes” and another for “Adidas t-shirts”.
