Keyword metrics and indicators

Shopstory provides metrics and indicators to help you analyse keywords and understand some of the recommendations Shopstory makes.

These metrics and indicators relate to the intent of the keywords, their advertising cost, etc. Along with a few indicators, these metrics are viewable on the Keywords page of each shop element in My Shop.

So, what do each of these mean?

Search volume

This tells you how many people searched for this keyword in the last 30 days in your primary advertising country.

If there is a search volume of 50 for a particular keyword, then there were 50 instances in the past 30 days when this keyword was used in a search query.

Buying intent

This tells you the level of buying intent associated with each keyword. Shopstory ranks keywords as having low, medium, high or very high.

SEO Rank

This tells you if this keyword is in the top 100 of the organic search rank before any ads have been placed, and if so, what the ranking is.

There's also an indicator showing whether its recently gone up or down.

Lower numbers mean that this keyword has a high organic search rank (e.g. ranked 1st, 2nd, 3rd...).

If there is no number then this keyword does not rank in the top 100.

Average CPC

This is the average cost per click of this keyword based on the cost per click over the last 30 days quoted by Google.

So, if a keyword has an average cost per click of 0,62 € and you place an ad on that keyword, then you will pay approximately 0,62 € every time someone clicks on that ad.

Landing page

This indicates if the keyword exists on the webpage of the shop element.

Google Ads

This indicates if your shop is currently advertising on this keyword.

  • A solid green do means you are advertising on this keyword via Shopstory.

  • A green circle means you are advertising on this keyword outside of Shopstory.

If there are ads running on a keyword, this will also indicate which countries the ads are running in.
